The word "Benidorm" is sure to conjure up images of skyscrapers, mobility scooters and an ever so slightly rowdy British crowd. As I embarked on my trip last month it was with just a smidgen of trepidation as these preconceptions swam through my head. What I found surprised me, Benidorm is all these things, and it is so much more. The resort is a cocktail of contradictions which consistently attracts hordes of hen and stag parties. It's an unavoidable fact that Benidorm has something special which keeps people coming back year after year, below are the reasons which I now count myself among that number.
The two resident crescent shaped beaches of Benidorm refuse to be ignored. Levante is the slightly livelier of the two and the 2km of fine golden sand regularly win awards; it's not hard to see why. Backed by a promenade with a host of restaurants, cafes and bars it is the perfect place to while away the day. With an abundance of water activities available you don't need to be a sun worshipper to make the most out of a trip to this crowd pleasing resort. Speaking of the sun!
Is another huge draw for Benidorm which boasts an enviable 330 sun filled days a year. The location works as the ultimate sun trap with its own microclimate, thanks to the surrounding hills which shield it from much of the bad weather. This makes it a pretty failsafe destination choice for those of you who are tempted to keep rain off the guest list.
If there is another place in the World which caters for as many diverse groups of people as Benidorm then I have yet to see it. You will see groups of hens and stags, families and couples and somehow Benidorm manages to keep everyone smiling. There is so much to do that you will be spoilt for choice and if you do want to get away from the revelry of the resort it is just a short walk down the beach to the Old Town. Here you will find a traditionally picturesque Spanish town with fantastic shopping, beautiful architecture and mouth-watering cuisine. From the waterpark to the karting track there is something for everyone, and when you are planning for a group trip that can only be a good thing!
With such a varied group of people populating the same area you might expect some friction but that couldn't be further from the truth. Everyone is there for the same reason - to have a good time, and as a result it is one of the friendliest, most laid back and fun places I have ever visited.
There are so many bars and restaurants offering great deals that you will be spoilt for choice. It only costs £1 for a beer so prepare to get more than a little carried away. Fear not though as the £1.23 full English breakfast is sure to diminish the hangover and prepare you for the next night. Even when you factor in flight costs Benidorm stag parties offer better value for money in total than most weekends in the UK, and when you think of all the extra benefits you get it really is worth it.
Other notable mentions include the bars which stay open until 8am, the incomparable opportunity for people watching and of course the infamous Sticky Vicky. Overall Benidorm exceeded my expectations and I started planning my next trip before my return flight even took off. The people were lovely, the vibe was relaxed and upbeat and there were activities to suit every personality type. I would recommend a Benidorm hen weekend to any fun loving group, but don't take my word for it, book your next group trip there and check it out yourself.
Traditionally the groom and bride places will be paid for by the stag and hen parties, though this is completely down to the groups. Our individual payment system makes this super easy, as your friends will pay us direct.
To ensure the best night possible for your party, if you have 15 or more attendees on each booking, Freedom will pay for the stag and hen places on the event!
