Kids Bubble Football
It's that time again, your little cherub's birthday looming. That angelic face looking up at you and those dreaded words uttered "Mum it's my birthday and I would like a super cool party with lots of my friends".
So what to do? A 9 year old boy and a big sister of 11 years old, who of course, wants to invite mates to gatecrash the little brother's party - the answer...
Bubble Football.
Hey presto I become the No.1 star mum for suggesting such an amazing party to showcase to the rest of the class.
Invites sent out, replies received, party bags set, we arrive at the Power League venue armed with a slab of bottled water.
The guests arrive and wait with great anticipation. Girls and boys faces light up as they watch the event co-ordinator, Adam, finish inflating the zorbs and roll them onto the pitch.
PLAY ON!
For the next hour the kids are let loose, rolling, tumbling and bouncing around with a series of individual and team games played.
- Football - Girls against boys of course! The girls winning like seasoned pros, mainly because the boys are concentrating hard on tackling members of their own team.
- Somersault Race - Basically a race to the end of the pitch and back again with at least 2 somersaults performed. Winners the first team where all members complete the task. Of course always funny when a number of children get stuck upside down with legs and feet kicking, similar to an upturned beetle comes to mind.
- Capture The Zone - All team members to the opposite side of the pitch into a specified zone - sounds simple? Imagine a pin ball table! Not sure who were laughing the hardest the competitors as they were ricocheting off each other or the parents watching their children upside down, sideways and horizontal.
- Last Person Standing - Can only be likened as a human form of skittles. Once taken out, not to get up. Just amazing how hard 8, 9 and 11 years olds can run at each other. Who would have thought a child in a Zorb could bounce and roll so far across a pitch! Of course the birthday boy won this game.
After hard work and fun packed action with tears of laughter from spectators and players alike, the children emerge from the zorbs to cool down with a drink of water. After the obligatory water fight and a bundle of boys throwing themselves on the ground, Adam takes back control and starts the important presentation to all players. The well-earned medal and certificates are distributed to each and every tired, sweaty child.
Job done!
One happy birthday boy, worn out giggling children and the title of No.1 star mum maintained. Buzz word on the playground...
